Apprenticeship Indenture - 1713


This Indenture made the Eighteenth Day of June Anno Dom 1713 Witnesseth That Tho Smith and John Cooper Church Wardens of the Parish of Rushden in the County of North’ton and Willm Campion and Hen Hall Overseers of the Poor of the same Parish by and with the Consent and allowance of Sir Robert Heselrige Bart & Robert Breton Esq two of her Majesties Justices of the Peace for the S[ai]d County Have placed out and Bound Elis Peirce a poor child of the Parish of Rushden aforesaid An Apprentice to William Perrin of Rushden Labourer till ye s[ai]d Elis Peirce shall come to and attain the age of eighteen years During which term the s[ai]d Apprentice her s[ai]d Master well & faithfully shall serve his se[crets] keep his Commandments Lawfull & honest every where willingly shall doe she shall doe no hurt or Damage to her s[ai]d Master nor Consent to be done of others but to her power shall lett & hinder the same or forthwith give notice to her S[ai]d Master she shall not wast[e] the Goods of her s[ai]d Master nor lend them to any person without his Consent shee shall not frequent Taverns Inns or Alehouses except about her Master’s business & with his leave She shall not during the s[ai]d term play at Cards Dice or other unlawfull Games she shall not by day or night absent herself from her said Master’s service but in all things as a good & faithfull servant shall demeane herself towards her s[ai]d Master & all his And the s[ai]d Willm Perrin for and in Consideration of the sum of four pounds paid at the sealing of this present Indenture his s[ai]d Apprentice shall Educate and bring up or cause to be Educated & brought up Either to lace makeing or spinning or any other business that is fitt to get an honest liveing And find and allow unto her dureing the terme Sufficient Competent and wholesome meat drink washing lodging apparel and all other necessaries meet for such an Apprenctice and att the End of the s[ai]d terme is to find her two suits of Apparrell & Convenient Linnen and other necessaries In Witness whereof the parties have sett their hands [&] seals the day & year above written

Memorandum yt ye sd Willm Perrin is to have twenty shillings a year
