Settlements - Higham Ferrers Borough

Rushden is one of the thirteen parishes of the ancient administration area of "The Higham Ferrers Hundred"
and Higham Ferrers was where the Hundred Court would deal with business for the whole area.
I have highlighted the parishes to show the wide area from which people were drawn into the borough.

This small bundle of documents details people coming into the Borough and those who gave surety that no relief costs
would fall to the Borough if they were unable to keep themselves, and the fate of two children of George West deceased.
Names of Borough officials who agreed to the settlements and witnesses who signed the documents are all listed here.

According to the Parish Register George West’s wife Elizabeth had died in 1617 leaving him with 4 children. A further
baptism and burial in November 1619 record “Francis reputed son of George WEST” but no burial was found for George.
