Rushden Echo, 3rd December 1920, transcribed by Kay Collins

Transfer of School
At a meeting of the Northants Education Committee on Saturday the General Purposes Sub-Committee reported that the managers of the Church of England School at Rushden had asked the local authority to accept the transfer of that school under the terms of transfer approved in June last. The sub-committee recommended ''That the transfer to the local Authority of the Rushden Church of England School be proceeded with, and that the clerk of the County Council be requested to prepare the necessary deed to transfer as soon as possible.'' The Education Committee on Saturday adopted the recommendation.

Copy of Report

Board of Education

Local Education Authority – Northants

Rushden South End CL Infants

Inspected on Oct 21st 1925

Report by Mr W J Hands

Until recently the work of this school has been carried out under trying conditions owing to extensive structural alterations which have been taking place and great credit is due to the Head Teacher and her staff for the skilful manner in which the school has been conducted during this period.

Even now the conditions under which the instruction is given are such as to make good organisation difficult, but the methods by which the teachers secure individual or sectional efforts rather than class results largely remove this handicap.  The children are bright and respond intelligently; they show considerable powers of expression and are exceedingly happy and interested in their work.

Under the able direction of the Head Mistress the general efficiency of the school has been improved greatly and the standard of attainment in essential subjects now reaches a highly satisfactory level.

A word of praise is due to all concerned for the time which has been spent out of school hours in devising and preparing admirable aids for the teaching of Number, Reading and Writing.
