South End School
Overspill

Southend School Log Book 1st October 1877

New Infant School opened in the middle of the village under the management of the National School Committee with Miss Fisk as mistress.  I hear that 43 children have been admitted today.

The school was off Coffee Tavern Lane at Rectory Road end. Canon Barker often taught in the school. Miss E Thomson and Miss Ada Glover from Marston near Grantham were teachers, with Mrs Margaret Wagstaff as Head Teacher.

The pupils transferred to the new Board School in Alfred Street.
