Rushden Girl’s Long Jump
Second in the Inter-County School Sports Other Successes
A Rushden Intermediate School girl, Barbara Cunnington, gained the distinction of obtaining second place in the long jump in the inter-county school sports at Blackpool on Saturday. She covered 15ft. 2½ins., as against the winner’s distance of 15ft. 5ins.
In the girls’ relay race, Rushden Intermediate put up a creditable performance in coming in fourth.
W Percival, of the Intermediate, got in the first heart of the hurdles; every boy in this heat gained a standard medal.
Colin Woods, of Newton-road, gained a standard medal for the high jump, and Ada George, of the Intermediate, got in heat two of the girls’ hurdles.
Rushden had six representatives in the County team.
