H.M. Inspector’s report for Year ending April 30th 1890
Boys’ school
The school is in good order and the boys have passed a very good examination in elementary subjects. Reading has evidently improved and is now bold with very little hesitation. Writing and spelling are good and arithmetic accurate, but the first and second standards must not be allowed to count on their fingers. The third, fourth and sixth standard’s work a very fair proportion of problems correctly. Composition requires attention in the fifth standard and grammar is not as satisfactory as the other work of the school. The poetry is fairly well said. The boys answered well in Geography. Singing by note is good. The walls might be coloured. Another classroom is wanted badly.

H.M. Inspector’s Report for the year ending April 30th 1891
Boys’ school
The instruction in the elementary subjects is good on the whole, but mental arithmetic in the first, second and third standards and spelling in the second standard should show improvement, and recitation should also receive more care in the first, second and third standards. Geography is good especially in the first, fifth and sixth standards, but the higher grant for grammar is recommended with hesitation on account of the weakness in the third, fifth and sixth standards. Order is fairly satisfactory in the school room but the offices are disfigured by indecent writing.
Walter Wood certificated teacher of 1st class
