Newton-Road Mixed School
The scholars at this school who had made the best attendance during the year, also received medals yesterday. Mr Newman, who made the presentations, congratulated the children on their attendance, and urged them to continue attending school regularly. Fifty scholars were the recipients of medals. Twenty-eight made the full number of attendances (419), thirty-three made 410, and one hundred made over 400.

Scholars’ Football—On the Fosse ground on Good Friday Rushden North End School beat Newton-road by 6-0. F Waller (3), Bryant (2), and Cure were the scorers.

Essay prizes—At the Newton-road School, Rushden, on Monday morning, Mr W E Capon, managing director of J Cave and Sons, distributed prizes for essays written by scholars who recently paid a visit to the factory. The winners were: Girls, 1 Aisne Reeves, 2 Muriel Corby, 3 Lily Page; highly commended, Doris Clark and Muriel Rivett; boys, 1 Vincent Jaques, 2 Leslie Rootham, 3 Sam Harris.
