Rushden Echo, 6th July 1900, transcribed by Kay Collins
Rushden Children and their Attendances at School Yesterday, at the Newton-road Infants' School, medals were presented to those children who had made the best attendances during the year. Five children made every possible attendance except one when there was a terrible snowstorm. Mr F Newman, a member of the School Board, attended to distribute the medals. He said he was very pleased to find that the children had attended so well. Though none had made full attendance, some had only been absent once, and that was during the week of the snowstorms. He noticed that many of the scholars had never been late. He hoped they would always be so punctual, and when they grow to be men and women they might never be late in their business. Some of the little ones had only been absent through sickness which they could not help.
The following were the recipients of the medals:-
