Rushden Argus, 25th September, 1914, transcribed by John Collins
Rick Fire
Good Work by Fire Brigade

Excellent work by the Rushden Fire Brigade was responsible for the saving of the better part of a hayrick belonging to Mr R Marriott, of Rushden, which took fire on Saturday afternoon near the Irchester-road, Rushden.

The brigade received the call at about 2 pm and turned out immediately with the hose cart. Using the hydrants they quickly got to work, and in a short time had the fire well under control. The brigade saved about 15 tons, and left the stack at 8.30 pm.

The firemen present were Capt. Knight, Second Officer G R Turner, and Firemen L Britchford, C Green, A Jaques, and J Wooding.
