Hovel Fire - 6th March 1877

On Tuesday evening an old hovel, in a field belonging to Mr Edwin Knight, was discovered to be on fire. It appears that on Mr. Knight’s son going to the hovel on that evening about five o’clock, saw a man named Rice, and warned him off. About six o’clock the hovel was seen to be on fire, and Rice was seen to leave the hovel. He was apprehended at Wellingborough the same evening. A tree was discovered to be on fire in a hedge between Higham and Rushden.
