Fire broke out at the carpentry workshop of K Woodward at 7 Harborough Road, on 24th May 2023 at 1.10pm. Harborough Road and Park Road were both closed to traffic as five fire appliances were called to attend. Residents were told to stay indoors and keep windows and doors closed. The nearby nursery was evacuated.

The first picture shows the rear section of the works had suffered a roof fire, and the second picture shows the view from the rear, looking across the play ground area used by Kiddi Caru day nursery in Park Road.

The original factory building has been in constant use by various businesses through the 20^th century and proves how well built the old brick premises were.
