Long Service Awards
Presentation at Rushden Brigade’s Annual Dinner

Engineer C Green, who has completed fifty years’ service with the Rushden Fire Brigade, was among members who received National Fire Brigade Association’s Long Service awards, presented by Mr Fred Green, J.P., chairman of the Rushden Council, at the brigade’s annual dinner at the Fire Station on Friday.

Among the guests were Councillor A Allebone, C.C., chairman of the Fire Brigade sub-committee of the Council, Mr W L Beetenson, Clerk to the Council, ex-Captain R F Knight, Police-Inspector Valentine, Police-Sergeant Brown, ex-Second Officer Hazeldine, of Raunds and Messrs O A H Muxlow, F Jaques and W Abbott.

The toast of "The Brigade" was proposed by Mr Allebone, and thanks were accorded to Mrs J Whiting for providing the dinner, by Mr Knight.

Awards presented by Mr Green were as follows: Captain A P Timpson, 5 years bronze bar, completing 15 years’ service; Second-Officer J Whiting, 5 years silver bar, completing 35 years’ service; Engineer C Green, 2 silver bars, completing 50 years’ service; Fireman J H Spencer, 5 years silver bar, completing 35 years’ service; Fireman L Britchford, 5 years silver bar, completing 30 years; Engineer T H Smith and Firemen F Bayes, F Underwood and F Tear, bronze bar (15 years); Fireman A Bailey, 10 years bronze medal.
