Appointment
Mr. G. Strachan has been appointed the local secretary of the Amalgamated Society of Joiners and Carpenters.

Tradesmen’s Association—The monthly meeting was held at the Coffee Tavern on Wednesday, Mr. H. Staniland presiding. The petitions in favour of a police court and county court being complete, the secretary was asked to see the association’s solicitor (Mr. Newman) to arrange for their presentment to the proper quarter. It was decided to interview Mr. F. A. Channing, M.P., on the matter.
