Walter Tilley was born in Bosworth, Leicestershire, in about 1868.

He died aged 83 on 12th February 1952, and his wife died on 27th February 1960. They are buried in graves F1174/5 in Rushden Cemetery.

The business continued to trade under the name of Tilley's after it was taken on by Mr Turner, until it closed in about 2000.
