Thomas Ltd & Thomas Hair Artist
In 1965 Mr Thomas opened his hairdressing salon upstairs.
His son had the ground floor as a newsagents.
Formerly Nattrass, Carter, Alfred Gray, Clipson Bros.

A Family business that started as a hairdressing salon at Irthlingborough in 1935 and now combines this with stationery, confectionery and a newsagency, has this week opened a new shop in Rushden's High Street, almost opposite their old premises.

Formerly and ironmonger's next door to Lloyds Bank, the modernised and completely redecorated premises now house the businesses of D F Thomas (Rushden) Ltd. (that's the hairdressing salon upstairs), and D F Thomas and Co. (Stationers) Ltd.

Although they are run as separate businesses, it is essentially a family affair for the salon is run by Mr D F Thomas and the shop below by his son, Mr B W Thomas—both are assisted by their respective wives.

Very Latest

The salon is spacious and contains all the very latest equipment; the shop too, is large and so designed to give customers a complete view of everything that is sold.

This is self-selection; but with a friendly and personal service.

In addition to a large and varied stock of greetings cards, they also have a wide selection of magazines and periodicals, quality leather goods such as satchels, brief cases, purses, wallets and duffle bags, gift wrapping paper, paper-back books, confectionery and cigarettes and tobacco.

During the many years that he has been in business, Mr Thomas has had premises in Rushden, Raunds, Irthlingborough, Wellingborough and Kettering but it was only six years ago that he started in the stationery line with a small shop in Rushden's High Street.

The new shop is well situated for customers with cars. There is a free car park just around the corner.
