Alfred Edgar Sumpter was born in 1880 at Kettering.

In 1908 he was in Rushden at 12 Succoth Place, but in 1910 he had moved to 9 Westbourne Terrace.

Alfred Edward Sumpter started trading around 1920 as a painter.

This 1953 letter written on an invoice slip shows he was a "Plumber & Artistic Decorator, Gas & Hot Water Fitter."

He had been working for Mr. Whitworth of Oakley Road, installing a fireplace supplied by Messrs. Dexter Ltd of Wellingborough.

The address is 239 Wellingborough Road.
