Arthur Leonard Scholes
Journalist and Picture Frame Maker

Arthur Leonard Scholes, was born in Stamford about 1871. He came to Rushden, from Red Hill Surrey, about 1897, with his wife Clara, and young daughter Dorothy, and he was working as a journalist, and picture frame maker, and repaired violins. He traded from 29 Church Street until 1907 when he moved to 17 Newton Road. He stopped advertising in the first World War.

To Violinists—If your instrument is damaged, or is in any way out of order, have it skilfully repaired by A. L. Scholes, 29 Church-street, Rushden. Sound-posts, bridges, and bass-bars fitted, cracks made good, linings renewed, necks grafted, and any other repairs carefully done, in strict accordance with the rules of violin construction, at lowest rates. Several instruments for sale or exchange.
