John Robinson - Tin Plate Worker

This advert is taken from The Argus dated 1st August 1890.

J. Robinson,

Brazier and Tin Plate Worker

High Street, Rushden.

Wishes to thank his customers in Rushden, Higham Ferrers  and District for the liberal support he has received during the past three years, and begs to inform them that he has now opened new premises

Opposite the "Feathers"
 with an entirely new stock.

This advert comes from the period of rapid growth of the town that came with the shoe factories,
when other support trades were also needed. From this advert we can deduce that J Robinson began
his business in 1887. He moved into the High Street along with several other new businesses at this time.

John Robinson was born at Lavendon, and came to Rushden in the 1880s with his
wife Harriet and her brother William Brown. The family had left Rushden before 1901.
