1922 Advert

In the 1901 census John Ladds was a clicker living with his parents at 112 Wellingborough Road.

By 1910 he was established as a tailor.

In January 1912 John married Floss Berry at the Independent Wesleyan Church and he was a tailor and outfitter by trade. Floss' father George was a tailor at that time, but in 1901 he was a postman.

After the war he moved to 91 High Street, and moved to 18 Church Street in about 1923. The advert on the paper bag (right) he is a costumier and milliner, ladies' and gentlemen's outfitter, and an agent for Burberry and Aquatite raincoats. The property had been Darnell's Warehouse.

He died when he was just 53 years old, in 1934, and is buried in Rushden Cemetery grave F823.
