A garage was established on land that was formerly part of the Marriott's Farm in Rectory Road.
It had belonged to Seamark's before David Hamblin took over in the early 1950s.
He specialised in commercial vehicles.

The business thrived and by 1990 he was trading as The Hamblin Group, covering several businesses. They moved to a newly built garage with large show area in Northampton Road close to the A45 bypass. This was later sold to Croyland Motors who are there today. He also redeveloped the Rectory Road site and created Hamblin Court.

The Hamblin Group opened "the First Hamblin Bank" in High Street, but this traded for only a short time.
