The advert above is from a 1921 recipe book by the Higham Girls' Guild, and tells us they had been esablished for 20 years so in 1901.

A shop at Rushden was established by 1906, at 126 High Street, and by 1928 had moved to 60 High Street, Rushden. They also had a lock-up shop at Higham Ferrers where a fire in 1912 destroyed much of the stock.

Re G. and J. Hall of High Street, Rushden, Northants.

We, George Hall and John Hall, Northants, hitherto trading in Co-partnership under the style of title of G. and J. Hall, in High Street, Rushden, Northants, regret to have to inform you that, in view of the persistent illness of John Hall aforesaid we decided to bring such partnership to an end; and that as from 17th March 1950, the business has been carried on by George Hall aforesaid, as sole proprietor and under the same firm name. George Hall assumed responsibility for all liabilities of the said firm. It is hoped that all business relationships will continue as usual.
