George Edward V Fleeman, MPS
Traded from 1928 until 1964

Research and article by Richard Hall, 2017

George Edward Victor Fleeman, always known as Vic, was born in West Bridgeford, Nottingham in July 1895, where his father George owned a hardware shop (he came from Rickinghall in Suffolk).

In the 1911 census his occupation is shown as a Chemist’s apprentice so presumably he worked in a shop in Nottingham.

He must have subsequently qualified as a member of the Pharmaceutical Society but I can find no trace of him between 1911 and when he took over the pharmacy at 9 & 11 High Street in Rushden from William Orrell in 1928. He remained in business there until he retired in 1964.

His business here was established
after WWI in the shop at
9 & 11 High Street, sometimes
known as Church Parade.

The business closed in 1964, and the property was bought by Peter Crisp to expand his premises.
