about 1905/10 - before a shop window and doorway was installed

Eastmans were trading in Rushden from about 1898 until at least 1940, at 70 High Street, according to the Trade Directories.


The window display of "New Season Lamb" - was prepared for a show to be held on April 9th 1914.


In 1958 the Trustee Savings Bank occupied the property when they moved from 111 to 70 High Street.

John William Mitton, 42, butcher’s shop manager Grade 2 – the district manger for Messrs. Eastman’s said that there was no one else in the shop. Six months exemption, the V.T.C. condition being excused.
