William Desborough's shop was at 38 High Street. This little rent book, a small cash book with plain black cover, records rents collected between 1894 and 1906.
The four pages below show the rental for 12 Rectory Road from January 1904 until April 1905. Mr Tansey stayed from January 1904 until Jun 11, John Thomas Faulkner came in August 1904 until April 1905, Mrs Norris followed and she stayed until at least April 1907, when the book ceases to be kept.
Did William buy a new book, or is that when he sold these properties before he moved to 'Chesterfield' on the Court Estate? In the bungalow there, he opened a shop in the front hall. |
