Frederick Caswell

1917 invoice from a bundle stored on a 'spike' (a traditional way to keep receipts)

Frederick Caswell was born at Wellingborough about 1867, and had two brothers, Henry and Herbert and a sister Jane, children of Henry Caswell (born Maidford) and Ann (born Lt Harrowden). Henry was a farm bailiff at Sanders' Lodge from 1871 for at least twenty years.

By 1901 Frederick was married and living in Wellingborough Road. He had trained as a house painter and glazier.

The invoice above shows he was offering Paperhanging, Electric Lighting and Bell Fitting, Glazing, Writing, Graining and Gilding, and was trading as a Plumber and Decorator. He was working in August 1917 at Rosemount, for Mr. J. Knight, and was papering the staircase.
