Percy Button was born in London, and he married Emma Read in 1902, in East Suffolk. A son Reginald was born in Suffolk in 1903, and then they moved to live at Rushden, where they had two more children; Norman in 1906 and Stanley in 1910.
A drapers shop at 93 High Street South, formerly kept by Stephen Higgins and his wife Annie, was taken over by Percy F Button in about 1905. They had moved to 46 High Street by 1908.
