Mrs Ada Buttling
Mrs Ada Buttling first traded as a milliner from 13 Alfred-street, her father's house.

Miss Ada Robinson (daughter of Thomas, a shoe laster) married Horace Arthur Buttling at St Mary's Church on 13th April 1914. Their son Geoffrey was baptised 19th Sept 1920 and daughter Helen on 2nd April 1922.

In 1916 the family moved to 10 Church-street, from where Ada continued her millinery business into the 1970s. In the 1950s her daughter Helen had opened a hairdressing salon on the same premises.

Rushden Echo, 15th September 1916

New Premises—Mrs H A Buttling, milliner, Alfred-street, Rushden, begs to thank her numerous customers for their past patronage and to inform them that owing to her rapidly increasing business she has found it necessary to acquire new premises. She has therefore taken the commodious shop in Church-street recently occupied by Mr A T Nichols, and has opened today with and extensive new stock of stylish millinery and fashionable blouses.
