Advert from Rushden Times, Nov 1893

Edwin McCracken was born in Leicester, about 1839, and came to Rushden about 1885, with his wife Elizabeth who was (born at Souldrop or Sharnbrook). They had Mary E (born at Market Harborough c1867), Lillie E (born 1868, married Ernest Coleman 1889), Horace (born Jerico OXF c1869), Amy (b Chilwell c1873), Gertrude (b Chilwell c1876), Elizabeth (b B'ham c1881), and Ellen (b B'ham c1884). A son Edwin was born in Rushden c1886. Amy and Gertrude were baptised at St Mary's Church, Rushden, on 15th April 1888.

From the adverts above, he probably came as manager for Brown Brothers, stone masons. By 1893 Edwin took over the business. But by 1909 he had moved to Thrapston - see the newsclip below. Nothing more is known.
