Emily was born at Earls Barton and married William Berrill. They must have arrived here in 1891, as William died here in 1892, leaving Emily to bring up their three sons, and daughter Alice, aged 8.

By 1901 Emily, was aged 54, in 1901, and trading as sub-postmistress, at 78 Wellingborough Road, Rushden, with her daughter Alice, aged 17, as her assistant. They also sold groceries.

William was buried in Rushden Cemetery, in October 1892, aged just 42. Emily was buried with her husband in 1928 aged 82. They are buried in Grave E1236 :
