These 1916/17 adverts tells us that Bertam Allen started trading in 1906, and came to Rushden in 1908. He moved from 146 High Street in 1916
and moved again in 1917. His main trade was
in Kettering, with another branch at Raunds.

Tribunal - Dentist’s AppealBertram Allen, aged 37, Grade 3, of Kettering and Rushden, manufacturer of artificial teeth, made a personal appeal. Mr. Newton (solicitor) said that Allen had branches at Rushden, Rothwell, and Desborough. Most of his work was for the working classes. In the last six months his takings were over £600.—Open exemption was granted to May 1st.
