Kay Collins, 2021
Advertising 1893

Taken from two sheets of newspaper - 8 large sheets still un-cut but folded as book-style.
Both the same date, Rushden Times and Rushden Argus.
The Times is on better quality paper, but is the only copy I have ever seen!
The Times has No 120 on the heading line, and The Argus No 142,
so earlier issues were produced from about 1890.

The last adverts here, copied from this old paper show just how brittle the paper is now.

This one shows that Percy Vernon was specialising in fruit trees, with two nurseries.

There was Stanwick Nurseries, of Higham Ferrers, and the second was Victoria Nurseries, Rushden.

He supplied a variety of apple, apricot, cherry, gooseberry, nuts, peaches, nectarines, pears, and plum trees, raspberry canes, and 16 varieties of strawberry plants, and grape vines.

Also a selection of ornamental trees, shrubs and roses.
