Abington's tailors
(Edwin) William Abington was born in 1903 at Kimbolton, son of Edwin J and Florence EĀ Abington, where his father was a tailor. As the 1926 advert below states, they had business connections in Rushden from about 1876. They first traded at 5 Newton Road in about 1922, and had moved by 1930 to 1a Queen Street, and four years later they transferred to 27 High Street. The business moved again about 1958 to 21 High Street, where they continued into the 1990s. William moved when he retired and lived near the Walnut Tree at Higham Ferrers, and he wrote a poem about the old tree.
