Alan and Janet Jenkins, together with Thomas, Anna and Philip, came to Rushden from Liskard in Cornwall.

It soon became clear that Alan was a very keen football fan and he readily transferred his allegiance to Rushden & Diamonds Football Club. He was a regular face on the terraces at Nene Park and even after he moved on to West Bromwich he continued to be a season ticket holder.

Another of Alan's obsessions was his motor-cycle and he could often be seen riding around in his 'leathers' complete with 'dog collar'.

On his own admission, gardening was his greatest dislike.

During his appointment at Rushden, Alan was appointed Police Chaplain and also Chaplain at Wellingborough Prison.
