He maryed SUSANNA the wydowe of EDWARD SANDERS of Harrington in the Countye of Northampton Esqr.wch. SUSANNA was one of ye daughters and heyrs of HENRY MACKWILLIAMES of Stanborne in Essex. But the sayd Sr. GODDARD dying without issue & making Sr.LEWES PEMBERTON Knight his nephewe his executor. The sayd Sr. LEWES in all humble and thankfull acknowledgement of his love & in memory of his beloved Uncle; caused this Monument to be erected. When all is done. It only is the pen. ELIZABETH, JOHN, THOMAS, SUSANNA, MERCY, PATIENCE. All which (except JOHN) survived him. He departed this Life The Twenty Eighth day October in the Sixty Fifth Yeare of his Age and in the Yeare of our Lord Christ one Thousand six hundred sevent & seven and neare this place is Interred. He was the Eldest sonne of ROBERT PEMBERTON of Pemberton in ye Countye of Lancaster Esqr. This ROBERT the worthy sonne of a worthy father was one of the Gentleman Ushers to Queene Elizabeth and in Ordinary 30 yeares: She was Daughter to CHRISTOPHER TRAUGHTON of Linford in ye Countye of Buckingham Esqr. She dyed ye 30 of July in ye yeare of grace 1608 in the 38 yeare of her age. And he departed this life ye 18 of Aprill in ye yeare 1609 having attayned to ye age of 67 yeares. What man and wife were or may after be, Onn to ye other (even) such two were we Full fortye years we husband were and wife All wch. fayre time, we lived without strife & on our deathbeds it was hardly geste, Wch. had to other greater love exprest I kind and loving to her, to me thus She tender harted myld and vertuous We had eight children to augment our joyes For her fower daughters, & for me fower boyes By God's grace we soe evenly were payr'd As that in sexes equally we shar'd. Not a yeare after that to heaven she went But me my maker thether to her sent. The monument was restored in 1965.(SoG 2 and WDS 35 record Mary as being in her 58th year, but appears to be 38th). |

The Parishioners have united in placing the seats at the west end of the church to complete the work of thoroughly restoring the fabric one of the many good works of his incumbency 1868 - 1890. |

For 62 years a member of the choir of this church and for 30 years Relieving Officer of this District who died Feb 13th 1885 aged 68 years from the effects of an accident while in the discharge of his duty. "The path of the just is as the shining light that shineth more and more unto the perfect day." |

WILLIAM MAYE of Rushden deceased the 19th day of April 1631 had left to the inhabitants of Rushden £100 to be laid out in freehold Land the increase and benefit to arise to the Poor of the Town so long as the world endures which will remain in the hand or Lewies Tapp and his heirs,to be performed for ever being Executor.
Freehold Land was accordingly purchased with the above £100 in the open Fields of the Parish of Woolaston and which produced annually about £4-10 but that Lordship being lately inclosed the yearly Rent for the Benefit of the Poor is now become £12. December 20th 1798. |
The above is transcribed from the wall of south Chancel Aisle on the plaster of which it was painted.
The Rent of the Land in the Parish of Woollaston is now £25 a year.

According to a will made in 1619. If a prayer is left on the wall WILLIAM MAYE bequeathed money to people of Rushden.
On the 16th day of April 1631 WILLIAM MAYE left £100, which bought open fields in the Parish of Woolaston. The money from the lands was to the inhabitants of Rushden. Executor LEWIES TAPP and his heirs were to pay benefit to the poor of the town "as long as the world endures".

C70. Window in west wall: Here King Henry at Nottingham confirms the grant of the Church and land at Rushden made by WILLIAM PEVEREL to the Priory of Lenton. For a remembrance before God of all founders and benefactors of this Church the parishioners have caused this window to be made AD 1930. |
