A new building for a new century

A revamped Salvation Army building was officially opened at the weekend.

the opening

Col. Gordon Becker cut the ribbon at the refurbished premises watched by Salvation Army officers and local dignitaries.

The opening ceremony of the premises in Church Street, Rushden, was held on Saturday and attended by leading figures from the organisation and local dignitaries including East Northamptonshire Council chairman Robin Underwood and Rushden Mayor Clive Wood.

The refurbishment has included a new worship hall, reception area, creche, cafe and nursery.

Commanding officer of Rushden Salvation Army, Major Graham Mizon, said: "We believe the Salvation Army has a special place in the heart of our community.

However, it is important that we don't wallow in the past.

"A new generation brings its own needs and challenges and we feel that our new refurbished premises will allow us to be relevant as we move into the 21st century."
