Rev W A DAVIS left Rushden for Acton Middlesex August 1885 after five years ministry.
 
 Special Minute - Church Meeting March 24th 1886 (see also minute book)
 
 Rev W J TOMKINS (late of Ridgmount BDF) entered upon his ministry at Rushden on Sunday Nov 15th 1885 and was publicly recognised as pastor on Tuesday Jan 26th 1886.
 As a Church we desire to express our deep sympathy with our pastor Rev W J TOMKINS, who thus early in his pastorate amongst us, has been called to part with his dear wife who died after a few days illness on Feb 25th 1886.
 
Rev J BROWN Northampton, H B ROBINSON Kettering and J H BLAKE of Luton were present.
  We also desire to record our deep sense of the loss we have sustained in the death of our beloved Elder Ebenezer KNIGHT who fell aseleep in Jesus March 14th 1886. For many years he held the Office of Secretary to the Sunday School and in many ways he has served the Church of God in this place. He was an earnest total abstainer, intelligent & consistant Christian, a good & useful preacher of the Gospel, and a man of stirling integrity of strong faith & indomitable perseverance. His life was one of great usefulness and his end was peace. Rev 14 - 13. Aged 75.
 
A most successful service.

 Proposed by Mr S KNIGHT seconded by Mr John CAVE and carried unanimously "That we as a Church and people place on record our deep sense of the loss we have sustained by the death of our beloved brother in Christ Mr W GROSS of Caldicote. We very gratefully acknowledge the devine goodness in sparing him so many years to serve the church in the Office of Deacon which he filled so faithfully & well for about 40 years. We would also magnify the grace which was manifested in his Christian character & conduct. We desire moreover to express our sympathy with our sister his beloved widow and pray that she may be divinely sustained in this her great sorrow.

 As a church and people we have to record the death of Mr A CORBY which took place on Feb 1st, as a result of a sad accident which occurred the previous week. As a Local Preacher, Temperance worker, Teacher in the Sunday School and Deacon of the Church, our brother was highly respected and greatly beloved. He died in the full assurance of eternal life through the infinite merits of the Redeemer. While deploring our loss in his death, we desire also to express our deep sympathy with his widow and children in their sore bereavement.
