What a rotten blow!
A COMBINATION of wet and dry rot has forced Rushden's Independent Wesleyan Church's main schoolroom to close.
Both forms of rot have been found in the main hall floor and church leaders have decided to close it for the time being on the advice of surveyors.
Minister the Rev Reg Taylor said the state of the schoolroom would be discussed at the next meeting of the church committee in December. He said: "The situation is that we are not using the room, and we will be seeking guidance and advice about the problem." The schoolroom is mainly used for church groups and these are now using a smaller room in the same building which is not affected by rot.
Any larger events such as bazaars would be held in the new St Mary's Church Hall nearby, and other church rooms.
