Yelden - The Rector and Mrs. Howes Smith, gave the school children a tea on Tuesday afternoon on the Rectory Lawn. After tea the children, under the care of Mrs. Adams, the school-mistress, were taken by the Rector for a drive in one of Mr. Asher Abbott’s brakes. On the return journey a stay of an hour or so was made at Rushden, where the children did a little shopping on their own account, which they much enjoyed. Returning through Higham Ferrers they arrived home about 8.30.

Yelden - Outing—Last Saturday week, through the kindness of the Rector (the Rev. Howes Smith), the school children, under the care of Mrs Adams, their respected mistress, were sent in a brake to Rushden, and to the afternoon performance at the Palace. After a cup of tea and buns, they had a stroll about Rushden, looking at the shops, etc. Unfortunately the weather was not very propitious, but in Mr Asher Abbott’s covered brake they were kept dry, and the conditions were more favourable when they returned, having much enjoyed the trip.

Yelden Outing—Parents and children of Yelden Wesleyan Sunday School, to the number of 22, spent a most happy time at Wicksteeds’ Park on Saturday. Starting from Yelden at 1.30, Kettering was reached shortly after 2p.m., and there the party had tea, afterwards going on the various amusements, the lake, etc. A start back was made late in the evening and home was reached about 11 o’clock. All arrangements had been made by Mr H W Payne, of Rushden.

A Large Contingent of young people from the Park-road Baptist Church, Rushden, cycled to the village of Yelden on Tuesday evening to hold an open-air meeting. The speakers included Mr P Deighton, Mr J Wilsher, of Rushden, and Mr B Watts, of Rushden. Mr T Richardson conducted the gatherings and also delivered the closing address. Three other young men also took part in the meeting. Miss L Norman sang a gospel solo and Miss Clara Bayes officiated at the organ, kindly lent by the Wesleyan Chapel, whose members and friends supported the meeting. There were present many young people from Chelveston Baptist Chapel.
