Thomas Tawier – will
elder, gentleman of Raunds


I Thomas Tawier the elder, gentleman, being whole of mind etc make this my last will and testament. Soul to almighty God etc and my body to be buried in St Peters gylde next to my father. I give to the poor people of Raundes 20 shillings a year for 20 years to be paid on Good Friday. I give ten pounds to the use of certain poor in the town that have need by (casualty) of horse, cow or any other (casualty) the money to be released by my son Thomas Tawier. And this my gift shall continue for one more. I will that if it please God to take my son Thomas Tawier out of this world then I will that my cousin Thomas Eykyn the elder shall have the distributing of the same 30 pounds.

I give to North Ende causeway (causye) 5 pounds. I give to my cousin Thomas Eykins the elder 40 shillings. I give to John Wykeley my nephew 20 pounds to be paid the day of his marriage. I give to Edward Wykely my nephew 20 pounds to be paid the day of his marriage. I give to Alice Wikely my niece 20 pounds to be paid the day of her marriage. And if any of them should die before they come to the age of 20 years then the said bequest shall remain with my executors.

I give to the poor people of Catworth 6s 8d. I give to the poor of Newton 3s 4d. I give to the poor of Little Addington 3s 4d. I give to the poor of Stanwick (Stanwight) 6s 8d. I give to Margerye Petite my servant 40 shillings to be paid at the day of her marriage. I give to William Dioll 20 shillings. I give to every of my godchildren a sheep. The residue of my goods I give to Thomas Tawier my son whom I make my sole executor in witness to this my last will Anthony Redshawe clark, Thomas Eykins the elder and William Dyall.

Probate granted 9th October 1560.
