John Rappitt – will 1690

In the Name of God Amen, the fourth day of June in the year of our Lord God One Thousand Six Hundred eighty and seven, in the third year of the Reign of our most gracious Sovereign Lord James the Second of England, Scotland, France & Ireland King Defender of the Faith &c. I John Rappitt of Irchester alias Ironchester in the County of Northton Yeoman being in health & of sound & perfect memory (Blessed be God for the same) and knowing the uncertainty of this Life, and being desirous to settle things in order, do make this my Last Will & Testament in manner & forme following. That is to Say, First & principally I recommend my soul to Almighty God my Creator, assuredly Believing that I shall receive full pardon, & free remission of all my Sins, and be Saved by the pretions death & merritts of my Blessed Saviour & Redeemer Jesus Christ, And my Body to ye earth from whence it was taken, to be buried in such decent & Christian manner, as to my Executor hereafter named shall be thought meet & convenient. And as touching such worldly Estate as the Lord in mercy hath leant me, my will and meaning is, the same shall be imployed & bestowed as hereafter by this my Will is expressed. And first I do revoke & renounce frustrate & make void all other Wills by me formally made, and declare publish nominate & appoint this my Last Will & Testament. Imprimis I give & bequeath to my Dear & Loving Wife Jane Rappitt one third part of all my household Stuffe, Item I give & bequeath to my Daughter Jane Rappitt one third part of all my household Stuffe, Item I give and bequeath unto my sonne Thomas Rappitt five shillings of Lawful money of England to be paid by my Executor hereafter named, Item I give and bequeath to John Rappitt ye sonne of ye said Thomas Rappitt the sum of five pounds of Lawful money of England, Item I give & bequeath to my Son James Rappitt ten pounds of Lawful money of England to be paid him the said James Rappitt at the expiration of the time of his Apprenticeship provided he then be alive, Item I give and bequeath to my Son Nathaneel Rappitt ten pounds of Lawfull money of England to be paid to ye said Nathaneel Rappitt at ye expiration of the time of his Apprenticeship if he be then alive, Item I give and bequeath to my Son Bryan Rappitt ten pound of Lawfull money of England to be paid to the said Bryan Rappitt by my Executor at the expiration of the Time of his Apprenticeship if he then be living, item I give and bequeath unto my Son Paul Rappitt ten pound of Lawfull money of England to be paid to him the said Paul Rappitt by my Executor when he the said Paul Rappitt shall attaine unto the age of one and twenty years, Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Jane Rappitt the Sum of Ten pounds of Lawfull money of England to be paid to the said Jane Rappitt at the age of one & twenty years, Item I give and bequeath unto my Sonne William Rappitt all my Goods, Chattels, Stock, Crop, and all my moveable goods of what nature or kind soever they be (or except what I have before bequeathed) and I do (divers good causes & considerations me thereunto moveing) nominate & Appointe him the said William Rappitt my Son to be Sole Executor of this my Last Will & Testament my Debts Legacies & Funerall Expenses being by him discharged. And I do declare this my Last Will & Testament, In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand & Seale the day and year first above written.
