William Partridge – will 1681

In the name of god Amen
I William Partridge of Bozeatt in the Countie of Northampton yeoman being sicke and weake in body but thankes be to god perfect in mind & memory doe make Constitute and ordaine this my last will & testament in mannor & forme as Followeth

Imprimis I bequeath my soule unto Almightie god the Creator of it and to Jesus Christ my blessed Saviour and redeemer And my body to the Earth from whence it came to be decently buried in Bozeat Churchyard

Item   I give and bequeath unto my eldest [son] Richard Partridge thirtie shillings of lawfull money of England twentie shillings thereof being in lue of my land which is otherwise disposed of as will afterwards apeare and the other ten shillings I doe bequeath to him as a legacie Allsoe I give him my biggest brasse pann

Item   I give and bequeath unto my Son John Partridge the sume of three pounds of like lawfull money of England the on moitie of it in leiue of my land which is otherwayes disposed of as aforesaid & the other moitie I bequeath unto him as a legacie

Item   I give and bequeath unto my Son William Partridge the sume of three pounds of like lawfull money of England the on moitie thereof in leiu of my land which is otherwayes disposed of as aforesaid and the other moitie thereof I give & bequeath unto him as a legacie

Item   I give and bequeath unto my Son Henry Partridge the sume of three pounds of like lawfull money of England the on moitie thereof being in leiu of my land which is otherwayes disposed of as aforesaid and the other moitie thereof I doe & bequeath unto him as a legacie

Item   I doe give unto my Son Richards three Children being my grandchildren to each of the three Five shillings of lawfull money of England

Item   I doe give unto my Son Williams two Children being my grandchildren to either of them Five shillings of lawfull money of England

Item   I doe give unto my Son Henrys five Children being my grandchildren to each of them Five shillings of lawfull money of England

Item   I doe give unto my Son Marke his foure Children being my grandchildren to each of them Five shillings of lawfull money of England

Item   I doe give unto my Son Thomas Partridge his son being my grandchild the sum of Fortie shillings of lawfull money of England

Item   I doe give unto John Smiths two children which he had by my eldest daughter being my grandchildren to either of them Five shillings and ten Shillings to him selfe of the like lawfull money of England

Item   I doe give and bequeath unto my daughter Ann she being the now wife of Richard Lawton the sume of Fiftie Shillings of like lawfull money of England And allsoe I doe give unto her my great cubberd and two of my best pewter dishes

Item   I doe give unto my daughter Ann Lawtons Foure Children being my grandchildren to each of them Five shillings of like lawfull money of England

Item   my will is that my son Marke Partridge shall have and enjoye to him and his heires for ever all that land belonging to the cottage which was late in the possession of John Gurrey together with the Cow Common and all other the Appurtenances And further my will is that the said Marke Partridge shall have all the husbandry and all other goods & Chattells in & aboute the yard and out houses and whatsoever in and about the dwelling house and whatsoever may remaine above the dischargeing the aforesaid legacies: my debts and Funerall rights and Charges being Discharged: And I doe Further Constitute and ordaine my son Marke Partridge Sole executor of this my last will and testament whom I doe hereby appoint to Fullfill pay and sattisfie all the aforesaid legacies within the space of on whole yeare to be Compleat & ended from and after the time of my departing this natural life

Finally I doe give unto my well beloved brothers in law Christopher Feary and George Edes to each of them two shillings and six pence of lawfull money of England Apointing those two supervisors of this my last will & testament Given under my hand and seale this seventeenth day of October in the yeare of our lord god on thousand six hundred Fiftie and seaven
