Margery Packe – will 1558


15th August 1558 I Margerye Packe being sick in body make this my last will and testament as follows. First I bequeath my soul to the mercy of almighty God and my body to be buried within the church or churchyard of Wollaston. Also I bequeath to the mother church of Peterborough 4d and to the high altar 4d and to the torches and sepulchre lights 12d.

I bequeath to George my son a featherbed and a bolster, a pair of sheets, a blanket and a coverlet, a quarter of barley and a (nether) of peas. I bequeath to John my son three horses and two cows and so much ___ as shall remain after George ___ and all my plough timber.

I bequeath to Edward Hull a quarter of ___ and a quarter of barley. Also I (reserve) to remain in my executors’ hands until my crop a quarter of wheat and three quarters of barley and two quarters of peas And all the rest of my crops I bequeath to John my son.

I bequeath to Margery Stevenson daughter of Robert Stevynson a featherbed and a bolster and three sheets and my new pan and a pot and a cow a sheep and a beehive. I bequeath to Elizabeth Stevynson a pan and a (posnyle) a sheep and a beehive And to Thomas Stevenson and Rychard Stevenson and Wyllyam Stevenson to either of them a sheep and a beehive.

I bequeath to Margery Hull daughter of Edward Hull a featherbed a bolster and three sheets, a heifer, a pan and a pot, a sheep and a beehive. To Margery Stevenson and to Margery Hull to either of them 6s 8d to buy them ___rings with all and to either of them a new platter.

I bequeath to Elizabeth Stevynson and Alyce Hull all my wearing apparel, linen and woolen an to each of them three silver spoons. I bequeath to John Packe Elizabeth Stevynson and Alyce Hull all my sheets John my son to have the one half and they two the other. I bequeath to John my son 30 sheep. I bequeath to George my son a pot and a pan my great spit and my great ___. I bequeath to Alyce Hull my beehives. I bequeath to John Packe my son my beasts and all my wood. I bequeath to Joane Chambers (a smock) and (an old coat). I give to the poor within the town 10 shillings and to every one of my godchildren 4 pence.

The residue of my goods I give and bequeath to Roberte Stevynson and Edward Hull whom I make my sole executors to see my body honestly (buried) my debts paid and my funeral expenses discharged. These being witnesses James Agutter, Ambrose Lenton, Raff Brotherton and others.

Probate granted 19th September 1558.
