John Morris – will 1778

I John Morris of Wollaston in the County of Northampton Lace dealer being in sound mind and memory do make and appoint this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following. I give devise and bequeath all and every my Messuages Lands Tenements Hereditaments and Real Estate whatsoever and wheresoever of what nature and kind so ever in possession of myself or any other Tenant to my son in law David Hennell and my daughter Mary, his wife and the survivor of them heirs and assigns for ever I also give to the said David Hennell and Mary his wife all my Personal Estate and Estates of Goods Chattells whatsoever and wheresoever of what nature or kind so ever to be found I also constitute and appoint the said David Hennell and Mary his wife Executor and Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament in witness where of I have set my hand and seal this ninth Day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy eight.

Signed sealed published and declared by the said Testator John Morris as and for his Last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence and in the presence of each other at his request have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto

This Will was proved at London the fourth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy eight before the Worshipful Andrew ? ? Doctor of Laws Surrogate of the Right Worshipful Sir George Hay Knight Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oath of David Hennell one of the Executors named in the said Will to whom administration of all and singular the Goods Chattells and Credits of the deceased was granted as having been first sworn duly to administer or power reserved of making the like Grant to Mary Hennell wife of the said David Hennell the daughter of the deceased and the other Executor named in the said Will when she shall apply for the same.
