Ruth Maxey – will 1684

In the name of God Amen the Fifteenth day of March Anno Domi 1684/5 I Ruth MAXEYE of Knotting in the County of Bedford being sick in body but of sound and perfect memory praised bee to God for the same doe make this my last will and Testament in Manor and Forme followeing First I comitt my sole to Almighty god and my body to the ground to bee buried at the disscression of my Executor hereafter named and as for these wor[ld]ly goods as God hath lent mee I dispose of them as followeth

Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my Brother John MAXEY’s Fowre Children Tenn pounds A peece to be paid unto them as theye come to the age of one and Twenty yeares and to bee paid into the hands of theire Father at St Mychall next For theire use

Item I give unto the Elder sonne of my Brother John MAXEYE one Twenty shilling peece of gold

Item I give unto my Brother James MARRIOTT and his wife my sister Forty pounds and all my howsehold goods and wareing apparrill excepting one suit of Cloathes

Item I give unto my kinswoman Sarah BABINGTON Five pounds

Item I give unto my kinsman John MAXEYE son of my Brother Thomas MAXEYE Fifteene pounds

Item I give unto Thomas MAXEYE his naturall Brother Twenty pounds

Item I give unto William MAXEY his naturall Brother Fifteen pounds to be paid them as they come to the age of one and Twenty yeares by theire Father my Brother Thomas MAXEYE

Item I give to the poore people in Bletsoe Twenty shillings

Item all the rest of my goods and chattels not Formerly given I give and bequeath unto my Loveing Brother Thomas MAXEYE whom I make and ordaine my holl and only Executor of this my will he payeing my debts and Legacies and Funerall Charges and to see my will truly performed In witness whereof I the said Ruth MAXEYE have hereunto sett my hand and seale the day and yeare above written in the presence of
