Thomas Church - will 1774



In the Name of God Amen I Thomas Church
of Wimmington in the County of Bedford Farmer being weak
in body but of sound mind and memory thanks be given
unto God But calling to mind the mortality of my Body
do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form
following (that is to say) first of all I recommend my Soul into
the hands of God that gave It hoping throh the merits of his Son
Jesus Christ to find Mercy And as for such Worldly Estate
Wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with in this World
I give and Dispose of the Same in Manner and Form following
I give unto my beloved Son John Church Ten Pounds to be paid him
in twelve months or a year after my Decease by my Executrix
herein after named I give and bequeath unto my Beloved Daughter
Elizabeth Colston wife to Joseph Colston Ten Pounds I give and bequeath
Unto my beloved Daughter Mary Curtys wife to Jonathan Curtys Ten
Pounds to be paid in twelve months or a year after my Decease by my
Executrix herein after named Item I give Devise and bequeath unto
My Loving Wife Mary that my Cottage with Orchard Yard
Barns Buildings and Commons of Pasture for one Cow and five
Sheep Standing and being in Wimmington aforesaid and now in the
Tenure and Occupation of Thomas Law With all its Appurtenances
Unto my Wife Mary Church for and During the Term of her Natural
Life and from and after her Decease I give the Same unto my
Son Thomas Church and his Heirs and Assigns forever My mind
And Will Is that my Legacies as I have give Should be paid them
in twelve Months after my Decease I give and Bequeath All
the Rest of my Personal Estate with my Goods Chattels
Monie all Moveables Whatsoever and Wheresoever
Unbequeathed unto my beloved Wife Mary Church She paying
All my just Debts and funeral Charges Upon this
Express Condition Nevertheless that if my Wife
Should Marry again then my mind and Will is that
She Should pay pay unto my Son John Church Ten pounds
more than What I have given him allready and Also to my Daughter
Elizabeth Colston Wife to Joseph Colston Ten pounds more than
I have given her allredy and also to my Daughter Mary Curtys
Wife to Jonathan Curtys ten pounds more than I have
given her already and my will and mind is that my youngest
Son Thomas Church Should ^have one hundred pounds paid to him
in twelve months or a year after my Decease and if
My Wife should marry again My mind and will is
That my younger Son Thomas Church Should have one
Hundred pound to be payd unto him more than I have
Given him already and my mind and will is that these
Legacies be raised and Levied out of my Personal
Estates and Shall be paid unto my Dear Children
upon her marriage day But in Case She does not
Marry then these last Legacies are Null and Void
but if She Should then to be as above mentioned And
I do Nominate and Appoint and Constitute My beloved
Wife Mary Church full and Sole Executrix of
This my last Will and Testament In Witness Whereof
I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal this Thirty
first day of March in the year of our Lord one
Thousand Seven hundred and Sixty Seven.
