John Church the elder – will 1697/8

In The Name of God Amen I John Church the elder of Wyming:
ton the County of Bedford Farmer being sick in body but of a perfect & dispos-
ing mind & memory doe make this my last Will & Testament in manner &
Forme Following. First I commend my soul into the hands of God & my body body
to the earth to bee buryed at the discretion of mine executors hereafter nam-
ed And as to my worldly Goods & estate I Give & dispose the same as followeth
Inprimus I Give & bequeath unto mine Eldest Son John Church (who is now upon
his settlemt) Forty pounds which shall bee payd onto him on the twenty
fift day of march next whether I shall then bee alive or dead either
in Goods or ready money. Item I Give unto William Church my youngest
son & to his heires for ever mine house in Meers Ashbey in the County of
Northampton in which Thomas Marriot now dweleth, And my will is that soe
long as my sayd son William shall live with mine executors & put them to any
charge that they shall have the Rent therof I Give also to my sad son William
Ten pounds of lawful money of England to bee payd by mine Executors
to him when hee shall Attain to the Age of twenty & one years Item
I Give unto mine Eldest Daughtr Mary Church of his Forty pounds of
like lawful money to bee payd by mine Execut(o)rs unto her Immediatly after
my decease: Item I Give unto My Second daught(e)r Elizabeth Church For:
ty pounds of like lawful money to bee payd by mine Executrs unto her at the
Age of twenty & one yeares. Item I Give unto my third daught(e)r Anne
Church forty pounds of like lawful money to be payd by mine Execut(o)rs
unto her at the Age of twenty & one years. Item I Give unto Sarah
Church my youngest daught(e)r Forty pounds of like lawful money to bee
payd by my said Executrs unto her at the Age of twenty & one years
Lastly All the rest of my Goods & chattels & personal estate whatever (my debts
& Legacys beeing first payd & Funeral charges satisfyed.) I Give & bequeath
unto Sarah my beloved wife & onto my second son Israel Church both which
I doe hereby make & constitute Joynt Executors of this my last Will & Tes=
tament. Confidently trusting that they will loveingly joyne to fulfill my mind
herein expressed And I doe hereby revoke all former Wills by mee at any
tyme heretofore Made: And doe declare this to bee my last Will and
Testament. In Witnesse Whereof I have hereunto set mine hand &
seale this nineteenth day of February in the tenth yeare of our Sovereign
King William the third Anno ye Domi: 1697
