Trade Trouble - Threatened Strike of Workers at Bozeat

For several weeks negotiations bare been pass¬ing between the Boot and Shoe Operatives' Union and the masters at Bozeat with reference to the adoption of the statement current in Wellingborough and Rushden.

At present the masters resolutely decline this, and it looks very likely that matters will end in a strike. Unless the masters' answer is favourable this week, notices will be handed in by the men on Saturday.

Shoe Trade Dispute — Hopes of Settlement at Wollaston and Bozeat

A more hopeful footing prevails in the Wollaston district regarding the dispute in the boot and shoe trade, as the result of a meeting of manufacturers which took place on Monday evening; at which practically all the manufacturers of Wollaston and Bozeat were present, and over which Mr. A. W. Partridge presided.

The claims put forward by the Union were fully discussed, and we understand that there was a strong feeling in the meeting in favour of trying to come to an amicable settlement. The probability is that as a result of this a conference with the representatives of the Union may be arranged before the week is out.

Important Conference

The boot manufacturers are meeting Mr. T. F. Richards at the Nag’s Head this (Friday) morning, and it is hoped that some agreement will be arrived at.
