Bozeat Bridegroom Disappears
Postponement of Wedding

Quite a sensation has been caused by the disappearance from Bozeat of a young man named Benjamin Stapleton, son of Mr. Stapleton, farmer, of Bozeat. He was to have been married on Monday to Miss Harrison, the only daughter of Mrs. Elizabeth Harrison, shopkeeper, but disappeared on Friday, and the wedding had, of course, to be postponed.

The bride and bridegroom elect met on Friday, and young Stapleton said he would take Miss Harrison for a drive, telling her to wait at home till he brought down a horse and trap. That was the last she saw of him and when his parents were visited they were unable to throw any light on the matter. Both families were quite at a loss to account for the young man’s disappearance and are much upset. A rumour has been current that the missing bridegroom has gone to Canada, but no confirmation of this appears to be forthcoming. Much sympathy is felt for both families, who enjoy the esteem and respect of their fellow villagers.
