An interesting wedding was solemnised at St. Lawrence’s Church Stanwick on Boxing Day, when Miss Florence Clark, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Clark of Stanwick, became the wife of Mr. William Reginald Scroxton, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Scroxton of Portland Road, Rushden.

The Rev. J.B. Dollar officiated. There were four bridesmaids – Miss Agnes Clark (sister of the bride), Miss Dorothy Scroxton (sister of the bridegroom), Miss Marjorie Scroxton (sister of the bridegroom) and Miss Violet Reed (friend). Mr. Herbert Scroxton stood by his brother, who is a member of the Messrs. Bert Scroxton and Sons, the well-known transport firm. Mr. Edward Wadsworth was at the organ and the hymn “The Voice that breathed o’er Eden” was sung by the large congregation.

The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr. George Clark, was attired in white jap silk, trimmed with featherdown, and embroidered with beads and silk. Her veil was crowned with white heather and her bouquet was composed of white chrysanthemums and lilies. Miss Agnes Clark and Miss D. Scroxton wore dresses of old rose crepe-de-chine, with veils and the younger maids had white crepe-de-chine dresses with veils. Chrysanthemums and lilies were carried by all the bridesmaids.

At the reception, which was held at “Sunnyside” Bedford Road, Rushden, the home of Mr. H. Everett, a friend of the bridegroom’s family, 80 guests assembled.
