Richard Putt, a shoemaker was born in Chesham BKM. He married Sarah and they had two children, Alice and Harry, at Chesham before moving to Raunds about 1886, where they had Ernest and Walter. The family were living in Rotten Row in 1901.

Walter Putt married Violet R. Brown, daughter of William and Selina, in 1916.

After his enlistment Walter joined the Northamptonshire Regiment and later he was with the Machine Gun Corps.

Walter survived the war.
